Lovely afternoon with teatime at Mona Prestele in Hörnsjö. Here, next to Mona's garden which blooms and greens in summer, there is a cozy café where everything is home-baked and prepared by Mona herself. Mona's Teatime is a concept, a taste experience, where Mona herself serves and tells about the pastries on offer. A two-tiered dish filled with small sandwiches, cakes and pastries. Plus scones with jam and cream cheese and tea and coffee. What cannot be eaten on the spot is taken home in a box.
The contents are from the local area, Västerbotten cheese pie, sausages from Åbrånet, vegetables, herbs and flowers from the garden (at least when it is season) and everything is baked in her own stone oven including all bread.
Wonderfully good, definitely worth a trip. 45 minutes by car from Umeå is a nice excursion. Take the opportunity to visit Åbrånet's limousine in the same village and buy some meat on the way home.
